WANTED: PAIVIKA BUDDIES

Becky and Friend
This is a picture of two Paivikans who haven't yet joined our Paivika Buddies network. The person on the left is Becky, but we don't know her last name, and so far no one has been able to name the young man at her side. If you know either person, please let them know about paivika.com, and invite them to sign up on our roster. |

Ted Maintenance, 1960's
The young man in this picture is named Ted, and he was part of the Paivika maintenance team in the 1960's, probably one or two years between 1961 and 1963. We think he went to UCLA and became an engineer. If you've kept in touch with Ted, tell him about Paivika.com, and suggest that he join us on-line. People have asked what ever happened to him, and would like to catch up on the past 46 years. |

CAMP PAIVIKA 60th ANNIVERSARY
CELEBRATION

August 11, 2007

It was Camp Paivika's 60th birthday party, and family fun was the order of
the day. The teenage session of campers played hosts with their counselors and
program staff to an invasion of happy flatlanders. All manner of Paivika Buddies
were on hand - campers, staff, parents, friends, and even one elected official - enjoying
the sunshine on a beautiful day in Crestline. Thanks to everyone who took pictures
and sent these for us to share.

It was a day for renewing old acquaintances... |

...and for eating lots of good camp chow. If the hamburgers weren't enough, a lavish
spread was laid out at the building dedication. |

There were tours, speeches, games and serenades by the campers. |

New Cabin 5 was completed just in time, and the lodge was dedicated to Joan Mier, in honor
of her many contributions to the Ability First camping program. The newly remodeled
health care center was named the "Marilyn Graves Health Center". |

A colorful new emblem of Paivika was donated by a group of Willow Grove quilters,
commemorating the camp's history. |
