CAMP PAIVIKA AFTER THE TRAGIC OCTOBER, 2003 FIRES
Photos contributed by Don Foley
"The Point" - it won't be the same in future... But with "The Paivika Spirit",
new inspiration and new Paivika Plants - you never can tell...
Very close to the Old Bird Cage area - and it gets closer...
Kenny Kunsek (Camp Manager) checking out the lightly toasted Gazebo with 15 month
old daughter. The Gazebo is using the top of long abandoned Pool surge tank.
Just below the Camp Out area...
Not far away...
Around the same area...
Just in front of the Archdale home (removed last year). Remember that incredible view.
On Camp Fire Road...
The flames did a thorough job...
Many pine branches need holding down - no more...
Behind former Ceramic/Arts & Crafts building. These trees
didn't burn, but were lost to drought and bark beetles,
like many forest acres of lost Coulter, Ponderosa Pines.
They are the potential fire problems of the future.
Our partially blackened Camp Out area.
It must be said that our high powered Camp Fire Water System
came through with the knowledgeable help of Manager Kenny Kunsek
and Dedicated Wife and Director Kelly. It most appropriately must
be noted that Program Director Bonnie and Support Staff (throw in a small army
of firefighters and equipment) saved Paivika! A Great Paivika "Thank You"
is expressed from all who care.
